This area of the clearing is about 30 meters wide and is a mixture of dark soil and clay throughout, though much of it looks like it's been sodded in recent months. Near the center of the clearing, the top of a large white boulder juts out from the soil like a bone revealed after the skin of an animal has been torn away. The large rock appears to be normal stone at its base, but towards the top stone gives way to a sparkling collection of quartz crystal.
Around you, twenty yards in every direction, stretches the caern. To the southeast, a waterfall plummets over the edge of the chasm into a small pool in the caern; nearby, to the southwest, steam comes from cracks in the ground, perhaps some of the same water. Northwest, a rocky spar juts out of the ground at a low angle, showing a sloping but smooth top. The chasm walls narrow a bit to the northeast, causing some of the mist to swirl in that area.
Leonard arches his eyebrows in surprise, but nods, letting his gaze wander over the crowd until they find the one he seeks. "Ears-to-the-Ground, I know you have just made fostern yourself, but as one of the highest ranking talesingers here it is to you I must turn. Would you accept my challenge?"
Elan nods and sits down.
Robert blinks at the break in protocol, his gaze drifting over to the Master of the Challenge rather than either of the two currently involved in the Challenge.
From the rock outcropping, Kaz rouses herself out of half paying attention. She stands up, glances at Nightflash, then shrugs and ignores him. "Oh, sure," she tells the Wendigo, "Y'understand, I can't think of nothin' on the spot, but I'll take th' Challenge. I'll have somethin' for you by th' new moon. Works?"
Nightflash's expression betrays his surprise at this, and he looks back to Leonard. When the Wendigo chooses Kaz, the Gaian speaks up. ~Ears-to-the-Ground is too recently advanced herself, as you have already pointed out. If you choose her, your challenge will have to be delayed.~
Leonard nods, to both. "I can accept that."
Three-Blades splays her ears at that, glancing from Nightflash to Kaz to Leonard. Well then.
From the rock outcropping, Kaz sighs, and looks back to Nightflash. "F'how long?"
John winces vaguely, looking at Leonard with something that appears to be sympathy.
Nightflash answers Kaz. ~Three turnings of the moon is traditional. In your case, it has already been two. You may accept his challenge in one month.~
From the rock outcropping, Kaz mutters, "Joy," and points at Leonard. "Bug me inna month.'
Matt glances with some relief in Bernie's direction, silently offering her a soft patch of grass next to him.
Leonard nods to Kaz, sitting back down.
Nightflash isn't finished with Kaz yet. ~You have a challenge of your own to issue.~
Chaser raises an eyebrow at Kaz, frowning.
Wildfire takes in a deep breath, no longer growling but hackles still raised high. He crosses his arms once more, returning to drumming his claws.
From the rock outcropping, Kaz blinks. "To issue? I already did it a month ago. I gotta give him the shit in a couple days." After a moment, she pauses, and explains to the Sept at large, "I Challenged Elan for Eldership've the Bone Gnawers, see. We agreed on terms. Th' result'll be clear in a couple days. Y'all know, if I beat him, thass f'sure."
Bernie catches the offering, just after quietly slipping in from the treeline, and picks her way over to the indicated spot, dropping crosslegged into it and leaning over to whisper something into her Fianna packmate's ear.
Dizzy yawns and goes to find a rock to sit on.
Long distance to Matt: Bernie whispers, "How'd it go? I miss anythin' important?"
Bloodsinger licks her muzzle as she listens to the various challenges, apparently bored by the display of rank-climbing.
From afar, Matt shrugs. "Oh, Oi arsed up pretty good ta start, but recovered, Oi fink. Didn't get cuffed by angry elders, or anyfin'. Prolly 'cause they still 'aven't twigged ta 'alf whot Oi said."
Long distance to Matt: Bernie giggles softly. "Next time I'll ditch th' midterm an' be here t' translate, promise. Wish I'd seen it."
Three-Blades flickers her ears at Kaz up at the outcropping, and licks at her jaws.
Nightflash turns away from Kaz and back to the rest of the Garou. ~That concludes challenges.~ Matt gets a funny look. ~And, apparently, the cracking of the bone.~ With a shrug, he sets the bones down and calls out the Glass Walker elder as he returns to his packmates. ~The Wyrmfoe will lead us on the revel.~
Chaser glances around, rolling her shoulders a little. "And that is?"
Dizzy glances at John and stands back off. Revel? Isn't she supposed to leave before that? She looks to her elder for guidance.
John straightens up significantly, and nods to his cub. "You can run, now. You did fine. I got shit to do."
Fights-For-Hope looks anxious about the idea of a Revel.
Dizzy nods, "Okay. I'll see you later, then." She then shifts into lupus and runs for the her parked car at the Farmhouse.
Bitter Cup turns to look at John, her body tensing slightly with anticipation.
Wildfire takes this moment to crack his knuckles.
Bloodsinger flicks her ear at the mention of 'revel', and moves to slink back to Sepdet's side. My cue to leave, Dogstar.
Roger looks to John then Dizzy. "She may join us at the request of her elders. That is your decision to make John."
Laura gets ready to run with the Revel. It's been awhile since she joined in one.
Sepdet stoops briefly at Bloodsinger's side and gives her a quiet whisper, then bumps her shoulder with knuckles.
Tobin watches Dizzy leave and looks over at Chance, "Time for me to go, too?"
Serendipity bares her teeth absently.
Bloodsinger rumbles in good humor, catching the Theurge's wrists gently between her teeth for a moment before slipping away. Her form squickly disappears in the fog.
Dreams-Deadly has been the silent onlooker much of the evening, off to the side of things while still well within earshot. Stock-still for the most part, the lone shadow is animate with the mention of a revel. She stretches limbs stiffly.
Three-Blades makes contact with Renee, moving over and nudging the cub to go home now. The directions have already been discussed.
Chaser's smile slowly widens, baring teeth. She runs both hands ack through her hair and turns that feral grin on John, waiting.
Sepdet stalks over to Three-Blades with an intent expression, sliding upwards into a rather stunted crinos.
John looks to Roger for a moment, as he steps forward towards the center of the Caern-- he's shifting slowly, moving up through glabro, and then to crinos. Clothes seem to be absorbed by expanding backs of solid muscle and fur, as his body twists and contorts. ~My decision is that she avoids this one. For tonight we muster at the largest blight in the city, yet again. And again, the Sept of the Hidden Walk shall make a dent on that blight.~ His voice raises, starting to become a shout. ~Tonight, we test the mettle of our foe. Tonight we revel on the wall that surrounds the hospital.~
Wildfire frowns, that being a long walk from here. A very long walk. Still, he seems to relish the idea of tonight's revel's objective.
Nightflash stalks over to John. ~What do you expect to accomplish this night?~
Jarred watches the Get Fostern from across the clearing.
Three-Blades doesn't particularly care for what they expect to accomplish. She remembers the last Revel that was at the hospital. ~If anything, we'll be lucky if we get inside at all.~ Pessimisstic, sure, but that's a newmoon for you.
Child-Holder snarls and flexes her clawed hands. ~I am ready...~
Fights-For-Hope looks to John then Wildfire, ~You as ready as I am to tear the fuckall outta 'em?~
Walks-Thin-Ice looks Nightflash in the eye, inclining his head a little. ~There is a wall of webbing that surrounds the hospital. Our objective is to breach that wall, and gauge the strength and abilities of the forces that come boiling out to meet us. When everyone has bled to their satisfaction, we shall withdraw. Tonight, whoever wants their glory will have it, but watching and learning will be the most important tasks.~
Sepdet gives Yi a bump of the knee. ~We're tearing at what comes our way--a few less of the enemy, whetting our claws for the battle ahead. Don't worry strategy now. Let the moon sing and trust in the power of the full sept working together.~
Nightflash snarls at the Glass Walker, yellow eyes burning with fury. ~You may choose to charge into a battle unknowing, and run away when you are overwhelmed. I understand this has been your favored tactic in the scab. But some of us do not have the option of retreat.~
Rides-Fire lays his good ear back, ruff flaring as he shifts his weight from paw to paw restlessly.
Three-Blades gives her alpha a rather dubious look at first, but then nods in silent agreement.
Sepdet growls something under her breath.
Walks-Thin-Ice moves closer to Nightflash, his own teeth showing clearly. ~I know your pack's Totem ban.~ To all about the Caern, the Walker bellows, ~All members of Final Strike attending shall take the fore. We shall run on our hunt, and anything in our way shall be rent apart by this pack, as we move.~
Wildfire cackles a laugh, something not too pleasant from a crinos. Whatever crosses his mind he doesn't share, though he does speak. ~Where's the U-Haul?~
Three-Blades turns her ears back in submission to her pack alpha's growl.
