The shadowy canopy of evergreens recedes here, opening into a small clearing. The grass underfoot is a vibrant young green, luxurient and seemingly soft to the touch; small flowers, some purple and others blue or yellow, add to the spread of color. Immediately to the east, the ground rises into a small, rocky outcropping, at the base of which stands a large pool of crystal clear water; the barest rivulet of a stream wends its way south and west from the pool across the clearing, losing itself in the forest. This whole area has about it a sense of peace and silence; the air is cool and fresh, the scent of the flowers pleasant, the colors of the forest in seemingly perfect balance. Anything not pristine or natural seems almost a world away to you here.
The half-moon shaped pool lies just to the east. A faint trail seems to follow the little stream southwest into the forest.
Yi and Bernie are early, having been part organizers in this raggie-herding event. Food of various sorts are contained in the bags set down nearby, and the two Gnawer ragabi are speaking in cahoots regarding the night's agenda. "I just hope things get said and done without trouble."
Bernie shrugs, still unloading yet more food and some drink, while she's at it, from her backpack. "Prolly. I mean, we're not exactly stirring up huge controversies an' shit or anythin'."
"Did you manage to contact Collin? I heard that he scouted the hospital before. Maybe he will show up," Yi adds while setting down a couple of bags of chips. "Hopefully we will get a chance to see the other newmoons, all together na?"
"Be cool," Bernie agrees, "but nope. Couldn't find him, I think he's off outta town somewhere. Either that or I really need more practice with th' Questin' Fry..." She closes her bag, and stands, stretching. "I'll letcha know 'f I find him, though, 'bout the hospital, yeah?"
Yi chuckles quietly. "Striders will be Striders," she intones with a more than necessary solemnity after her soft laugh. "Hopefully that Patrick Faces-Shadows-rhya would have gotten word that we were holding it here, too. He didn't seem all that thrilled when I was up at moot talking about this."
"Hey. Sorry 'm late," comes the greeting of Helen, racing in at top speed. As if she were threatened to run into something, she manages to almost skid to a stop, long hair wild.
Rushes-In pads happily out of the woods, tail wagging vigorously. He chuffs a greeting. Is this where they said the moot is?
Bernie nods. "Mmhmm, this is where we're holdin' the moot. Pull up a patch of ground, or whatever..." She does so herself, dropping crosslegged by the bags of food in an almost graceful motion. "I didn't r'member that, Yi... but I think prolly he'd've heard, yeah?"
Rushes-In trots up, sits down and transforms back to homid.
Yi looks up at Helen and waves to the Fury. "You're not late... we've barely even gotten the food set out. Hello... Dove right?" she recognizes the cub, even if he might not recognize her. She glances around the surrounding woods, wondering who else is going to appear out of the shadows.
Helen stands in her place somewhat away from the two Bone Gnawers. "Hey, kiddo," she says to the Gaian cub, half-heartedly.
Dove nods to the other. "Dove Rushes-In, cub of Her Children. No Moon, yeah."
Bernie looks up at him from her seat on the dirt, and waves casually. "Hey." A pause, and she glances up at Yi, "We settin' the food out for now, or just after? I say during."
Yi finishes setting out most of her set of edibles and sits back, looking briefly over towards the pool. "Nice night for a gathering." She looks over at the other few. "Hope this isn't all we have..." Looking back to Bernie, she shrugs. "As much as you'd like to set out, I assume."
Joey is heralded by the familiar Gnawer Warning System. Then entails a lot of snapped twigs and the crushing sound of dried, dead leaves being ground underfoot. Stealthy, no. The male Ragabash finally emerges, just a touch of a smile on his face, headins towards the pool.
Nails trots in, nose to the ground as he apparently follows a scent... straight to Joey. Shortly before he bumps into the Gnawer's leg he looks up and around, mildly bewildered at what he sees. Hey, people. He walks by Joey, giving his leg a friendly thwap with his tail as he continues to Bernie and rubs against her leg. He evinces some surprise that Spins-Circles isn't here already.
The Black Fury settles down upon her rump on the grass, watching the others. Helen begins to hum to herself.
Bernie starts pulling the various foods and drinks from the plastic bags between where she's seated and Yi, setting them out all over the ground. Nails surprises her slightly, and she grins, giving him a quick scritch as he passes. "Hey, you," she greets him, and glances up to see her most recently arrived tribesmate. "And you. Everyone dig in if y'want anything." She snags one of the few bottles of Guinness in the mix, herself, and makes the cap pop off with a quick look. It's still fun.
Dove looks around at all the food, and beings to pick at some things experimentally.
Joey flashes a small smile at the offer of food, even if he's confused at the identity of the wolf who just came way too close to humping the Gnawer's leg. Sign of respect or no, that makes him slightly uncomfortable. Bernie's antics get a chuckle, as someone taught her that trick. Mental note, see if it works on zippers. "Yo yo," he says, meandering forward, giving Nails a curious look as he does, after giving Helen a smile. Oh, look! Beer. Good. He takes one, and pops the top with the same Open Seal motion, catching the flying cap in midair. Practice. He slugs the dark liquid, and sits down. "So, when do we get to brag," he asks with a wink to Yi.
Silent the black form of Quick stalks through the woods, each paw carefully placed as not to rustle a leaf. His alert ears pick up the sounds of those not as careful, and he veers, stalking into the gathering of Garou, circling around each for a sniff, giving the Gnawers more room than the others.
Dove looks around. "OK, when do I learn to do that? That's a Gift, right?"
Amongst the various edibles are everything ranging from slowly thawing steaks purposefully kept for the more raw-meat oriented, to donuts from Hayden's Donut Shoppe in town (with rainbow sprinkles!). Bernie helped tons with picking out the various snacks and dinner-spoiling substitutes as well. Yi stands up afterwards, looking at the gathered around. She smiles and nods once to Joey, "Hey there. Bragging Rights will be distributed soon enough." Her eyes find the blackened shadow, not exactly hearing him but movement around her peripherals is quickly noticed. "Right... guess we can get this thing started?" She looks over at Bernie.
Joey looks at the kid with the very light blond hair. "Can teach, unless you're still a cub, then it's after the Rite for ya." Sip. Beer good.
Helen grabs a beer and a donut. She pops open the can of beer and takes a sip. "Never thought a moot would involve alcohol," she muses.
Dove grimaces and grabs a beer, then finds a seat. "Still a cub, yeah," he mutters.
Nails veers away from Bernie, giving the forest he came from an apprehensive look. After a moment he flops half on his side to watch the others, apparently declining the food for now.
Bernie sips her own beer, and flashes Yi a grin. "Let's get this party started," she agrees, and clambers to her feet again, moving over beside the Canto-Gnawer. "So, hi. Welcome to the Ragabash Moot, please keep all hands and arms inside th' shoreline while th' moot is in motion. We're pretty much your hosts, as it were," she guestures to Yi with her bottle, "I'm Bernie Rosenberg, Stomps-Th'-Wyrm-With-Steeltoed-Boots, Cliath Ragabash -- obviously -- Bone Gnawer. And now is the time on Sprockets when we do the introductions." She glances to Yi; a cue.
Yi clears her throat once, looking at the gathered with no less an air of interest. Not spying anyone who particularly should be noted as elder... she stifles the inner fall and nods. "I'm Song Yi Ling, otherwise known as Three-Blades. Cliath newmoon of the Gnawers. Packed with Sepdet Hope-Star, Leonard Little-Bear, and Duane Flamecaller under Salmon in Salmon's Leap." She pauses there, before sliding up to a howling form. And with that, belts out one last call to moot.
Three-Blades howls long and loud.
From Shore Around Half Moon Pool, Three-Blades can be heard to howl, ~~Ragabash of the Hidden Walk! Those born of the Newmoon, meet at the Shore of Half Moon Pool! We gather!~~
Helen is silent, listening to the others give their introductions. It's her turn, now. "Helen Tisandros of the Black Furies, rite-named Cycle-Breaker." She wiggles her fingers. "Hi there, ho there."
Three-Blades lets her howl die off into the night, before nodding at Bernie with an arc of her muzzle and switching her eyes around the gathered and their intros.
Joey stops drinking as the howl sounds, and idly traces the lip of it with an index finger. "Joey Driscoll," he says. "Rited Braves-Fire. Cliath of the Bone Gnawers, New Moon, and alpha of the pack Pathfinders, with myself, Junior Legbreaker of the Gnawers, Alicia Guards-the-Flame of the Children, Luke Runs-for-Dawn of the Fianna, and Sebastian Halfpaw of the Uktena." He takes a breath, dropping the bomb. "A pack under Owl."
Nails shifts up and back to his birth form, and clears his throat before speaking, though he remains half-sprawled. "Corey or CJ Randle, Hits-the-Nail-on-the-Head. Cub of the Glass Walkers." He apparently figures if you can't guess the auspice, you're in the wrong place.
Dove puts down his beer, which he's been sipping at very slowly, and speaks up. "Dove Rushes-In. Cub of Her Children."
Chaser limps heavily toward the pool. Her jeans are ripped and bloodied, showing flashes of scabbing and bloodstained skin as she moves--and she comes near without any of her usual stealth, leaves rustling underfoot. Despite the way she moves and the obvious injuries, a faint feral smile shows on her lips.
Quick sniffs before he finally deigns to name-drop. I am Quicklime-Burns-Away-Flesh, of the House of Shadow Lords, and--the lupus pauses as he regards the others gathered--one of you, a new moon.
Patrick slowly appears in midair, sitting cross-legged about 10' in the air. "Patrick Hill, rited Whitestreak, currently named Faces-the-Shadows-Within. Adren twice-born Uktena. Beta of Ouroboros." He grins widely "Raggie, duh. In case the entrance and the meeting didn't make it obvious."
Joey is listening as he watches the others, eyes going slightly wide as Corey assumes his birth form. He makes a note to talk to him later. Dove gets a nod, and Chaser gets a surprised look. At the Shadow Lord's introduction, he blinks, making sure he heard that right, then Patrick appears. He smirks, a little, since it seems he's not the only Ragabash who can fly.
Dove's mouth drops at bit at Quick's introduction.
Corey blinks, first at the lupus, then looking up at Patrick. "You'll believe a werewolf can fly..." he murmurs, a little louder than he should if he's merely talking to himself.
"Hey, you okay?" queries the Fury as she looks over Chaser and her wounds. Helen grins to Patrick and informs him, "Nice invisible wings."
Three-Blades nods at the various introductions, ears back slightly and splayed at the lack of a few she was hoping to look for. Her muzzle arcs up as Patrick appears out of nowhere, and Chaser limps in. The Gnawer grins, before finding the lupus Shadow Lord in the throng. ~I think that's everyone... but there's always the shadows. Welcome, all.~ She looks briefly at the floating Uktena still, and licks her muzzle once before glancing around in a sweep of eyes again. ~We're missing a few.~ Sliding down to a less menacing form, Yi regains her shortened state in the presence of the others. "Ok. If any of you happen to know who is missing amidst us, speak their name, so all of us can track them down and give them a newmoon's telloff for not being here, na?" She chuckles quietly.
Chaser pauses as she comes out of the trees, coughing onto the back of a hand. She flashes the girl a feral grin, and nods. "Yeah," she answers, hoarsely. "Hadta beat the crap outta Owen."
Patrick chuckles and nods to Helen. "Thanks. They're pretty handy."
Chaser looks distictly pale, as she wipes blood from her lip with one hand. "Hey, Three Blades." She glances about, vaguely. "Guess I should say. In case someone doesn't know. Chaser-Never-Rests, Fostern Rotagar of the Get." Her voice is hoarse, and she coughs several times again, wincing.
Bruises careens in, the sound of twigs snapping and branches flapping audible from halfway across the bawn. She stops short and shifts to homid just outside the circle, out of breath and focused on the food in the middle of those gathered. Stepping over feet and assorted other limbs and bags she grabs a frozen burrito and two cans of beer, one of which gets stuffed into one of her pockets. She crosses the circle to stand, slouched to one hip, behind Bernie and Yi and only then peers up through her hair at Patrick with a skeptical expression. "Max. Boner 'n Trouble's boney ass." More directly to Patrick, "No more 'ritos for you, dude. You's had enough."
Bernie blinks, pausing just about to take a sip of her beer as the Adren becomes visible, and then grins, broadly. "THAT," she murmurs to no one in particular, "is =cool=." She completes the sip, then, listening to Chaser's intro with a fleeting sympathetic wince at her wounds. After a quick grin and wave to her packmate, and a muffled snort at her comment, she glances to Yi. "Okay, well, guess that's all of us who made it so far. As for people we know who aren't here and ought to be... There's Little Tim, Gnawer Cliath, packed in Trouble, like Max an' I, an' Collin, who's a Strider Cliath, an' Dizzy, Walker cub, an', lessee, a Fang cub, um, Jervis, an' another Fang, Valoran, an' Ethan, Get, only I haven't seen either of them in forever, an', um... Rusty an' Eamon, Fianna, same deal. So who else are we missing?"
Patrick ticks off names on his fingers as Bernie names them. "Stephen. Homid Stargazer. Spends most of his time out in the woods with Rides-Fire."
Chaser glances around, studying people through narrowed, sharp eyes. "Think that's it," she says hoarsely.
Sliding down to her birth form, Yi adds a couple of more names. "Linda Man-Eater, of the Wendigo... if she's still around. Cailet, a recently changed cub of the Striders... but I don't think Sepdet is comfortable with her being here yet." She looks the gathered, and up at Patrick briefly. The Uktena floating above is a little distracting. "I think that's all." She looks down at the gathered again and clears her throat. "Well. There's one item to cross off the list eh Bernie?" She rubs at the back of her neck, and nods. "Right, down to business. This moot was called to see who's who and who knows what, and who's doing what. So.. Bernie will tell you about the St. Claire sewers, though a few of you have already been with us down there." Her eyes go to Chaser and Joey respectively before she nods to Bernie.
Corey, unable to add any names to those listed and not recognizing half of them anyway, looks keenly around at each one here. When he meets Joey's startled gaze, he wiggles his eyebrows amusedly. Max's comment to Patrick gets a smirk, though he squelches anything he might have said about forward propulsion mechanisms. He blanks his face as things start to get down to business, listening intently.
Bernie nods, though her 'some of you' seems to include Max. "Right, so. 's been goin' on a while, so prolly mosta you've heard stuff 'bout it, an' like Yi said, several of us've worked on it already. Basically, th' sewers suck, they're full of all sorts of Wyrmy shit, an' we're busily tryin' t' get rid of it. It's worst by Osprey fountain, there's like a nest or somethin', so we've been startin' at Harbour Park an' heading that way, lighting it as we go. Roger worked up these funky LED displays, an' we're installin' 'em. So far, we've gone a decent way, but it'll go faster with more people, so if anyone's interested, let us know, yeah?"
Max sinks to a comfortable crouch behind Bernie, nodding here and there at what she says. She makes short business of the can of beer in her hand, watching faces around the circle.
Yi ticks off a few extra to note, "The Umbra in there is bad as well. I believe, Kaz might be still in charge of organizing the sewer expeditions, but basically the city Garou will need scouts that aren't afraid to get a little dirty. It's a bit tight down there, and the Wyrmspawn there is tricky. The theurges are working on talens for lighting up the place even more, but any new ideas that are more efficient in getting that place cleaned up will help in general." She looks around, particularly at the cliaths, for suggestions.
Dove listens intently, taking tiny little sips of beer when he remembers to.
Corey stays silent, thinking -- no, /knowing/ he doesn't have a chance of doing anything about this, but he files the info away for later.
Chaser nods curtly. "I'm talkin' to that Walker about some scouting possibilities. We need ta map."
Yi looks up at the floating Patrick as well, wondering if the adren might have something useful in this respect.
Bernie tilts her head. "Like, normal map? Th' city's gotta have blueprints or some shit like that for th' sewers. I c'n go check that out." She takes another sip of her beer, and looks like she wishes there were a wall or big tree or something to lean against.
Quick paces through the space underneath the floating Uktena.
Chaser nods curtly. "That, and we gotta go in and scout it out, see where the nests are. Come up with some kinda game plan."
"I'm not quite up to speed with strategy, but Sepdet did give us a rough map of the layout as she knew it years ago. Provided, the city hasn't changed in awhile, they should be similar." Yi looks between Chaser and Bernie.
Patrick shakes his head at Bernie. "Don't bother. Or, rather, bother if you really feel like it, but don't rely on them. At least when the Gnawers were putting hideouts down there, they said that it was pretty much a maze. You're best off using them as a starting point, but just that. It's a different world down there."
Patrick adds, "Sepdet's rough map would be a lot closer to reality than original blueprints."
Chaser nods agreement to Patrick's words. "Yeah." She glances around. "Anybody here got a really good head for remembering physical spaces, that kinda shit?"
Yi nods to the adren's words as well. Yi shrugs a bit at Chaser. "If I spent enough time in there, yes."
Bernie shifts her weight from one foot to the other, and nods, shrugging. "A'ight. I'll ask Sepdet for hers, an' go get th' public works type maps, an' give 'em t' you, and y'all can mark the shit we find on 'em, an' how they're diff'rent, or however y'wanna do it, yeah?"
Corey moves restlessly, then freezes. He already told himself he can't get involved, here.
Yi nods back at Bernie, and checks around for anyone else wanting to say something. She looks over at Corey briefly. "If you want to say something, now's a good time to say it."
Corey shakes his head. "I usually have a good memory for three-dee mazes, but, one, the way you're talking it sounds like this maze isn't static, and two, I'm still a cub. How long do you expect this project to continue into the future?"
Yi shrugs a bit helplessly. "As long as there's shit in the sewers, there's going to be Wyrm, right? The goal is to fight it back far enough so that we will have control of the underground. I have the idea that if this can be done, then regular patrols sent in will be able to keep it cleansed enough that we can use this as a way of transportation, without endangering the Veil." She looks thoughtful some more. "And wouldn't it be nice to know your toilet isn't clogged because there isn't some bane made of toilet paper squished in there?"
Corey nods in understanding, then looks ill at Yi's comment about the toilet. "Okay, I think I'll be peeing on trees in lupus until this gets straightened out..."
Yi chuckles quietly at the Walker cub, and checks around one last time for stray thoughts. Max gives a particular comment about TPing houses. Then, Yi looks back to Bernie and nods for her to continue any announcements.
"Okay, so, next report," Bernie starts, "if y'all remember that whole bone thing, where they thought they found Bigfoot or th' missing link or whatever, but 'course it was actually a Metis skeleton? That's pretty much handled, now. When what's-her-name, that Fury who left, um, Leda?, said her pack was gonna handle it, I was in charge of doin' distraction shit so skeptics'd be even more skeptical an' gullible folks'd have their attention diverted, or at least divided. That's where the crop circles an' bleedin' Jesus an' cattle mutilations an' shit came from, if anyone wondered. Matt an' Kaz an' Max an' Marcus helped out with various of those. Then it turned out the other half wasn't bein' done, so we took it over; that one night they put 'em on display, Joey took a group there t' grab 'em when they were leaving, an' got what they had, while meanwhile I took Elan an' Yi an' Collin an' we raided the school an' destroyed or stole all their evidence an' notes an' shit. Far's we can tell, we didn't miss anythin', but keep an ear out. Turned out th' bones they displayed weren't the real ones, just casts, but there's this Strider kin who works there, an' she made it look like she was sendin' 'em to th' Smithsonian, an' gave 'em to Sepdet instead. An' I think then she found out whose they were originally, an' they're gettin' properly buried now. So that, I think, is th' end of that... but like I said, if you catch any hints of anything t' th' contrary? Let me know, a'ight? Thanks."
Chaser snorts quietly. "Aright. Thanks, Burns." She glances around to the gathered Ragabash, meeting Yi's eyes briefly before she speaks. "I needta put together a scouting party for the hospital, and soon. Before the moon gets much bigger. Anyone who's decent in the Umbra is encouraged to join in. Need to have serious stealth, though, or we'll get kacked before we learn anything." She particularly looks at the Trouble folks, then. "Trouble has dibs. We'll be workin' with Ice on this, and the resta the Urrah. Talk to Three Blades, or me."
Patrick tilts his head slightly to one side. "Before the moon gets much bigger and the Umbra is safer? More concerned about light than safety?"
Corey raises an eyebrow at Bernie's announcement. That explains the odd reports of St. Claire being the new crackpot capital of the US when he arrived.
Yi nods at the mention of the bones, that bit of Veil breach getting some thought before she notes down Strider kin in the university. "I'll ask Sepdet if she heard anything more regarding that," she notes at Bernie. Then, to Chaser's announcement... "The Hospital has some very smart enemies there. Last night, Seirian, Dane and I stepped into a trap that some fomor had laid out for us. They know who we are... they know who the kin are in there. John has them pulling out."
Chaser raises an eyebrow at Patrick. "Hell of a lot easier to blur into the shadows when there /are/ shadows," she says quietly. "And we need to /not/ be noticed."
Patrick simply shrugs. "I would guess that in that area, as much as is around, there would be shadows even under a full moon. And shadows can be made as well," he adds.
Yi looks up towards Patrick, and then to Chaser. "Where there's light, there's darkness too... but if we can get talens that will let us see in the dark, without flaring up like some beacon of light, I think those would be helpful. I'd spoken with Soulcatcher-rhya about some, but he had to leave when Robin was going to give birth to their daughter." She glances about again, scanning the area.
Chaser nods. "I was thinkin' the half moon or maybe a little later," she says quietly. "The more dark, the less chance we'll be seen. And if you can make shadow outta nothin', you're welcome to come along and manufacture them." She gives a taut half-smile. "Long as you see fit t'walk down in the scum with the rest of your septmates."
Patrick chuckles lightly. "See more up here, actually. See a wider scale, at least. It's a different perspective, and isn't that what our auspice is all about?"
Chaser raises an eyebrow. "There's flyin' Wyrmspawn, too, y'know. Ran into some when we checked out the hospital."
Patrick nods once again. "I know. I was there. I passed on the warning, via Andrea, before they attacked. I kept them from doing too much spying of their own, as well."
"And spiders... a lot of them. John has the right idea, with acid and fire." Yi gains a short scowl on her face, before shaking it off. "I think all we have to do, is determine how bad it is in there. Burning it down will probably only scatter the threat." She looks up at Patrick. "What /did/ you see up there, while you were flying around?"
The floating adren gives a small shrug before answering. "Besides the things that were trying to spy on /us/? Another of those giant things. A couple of shadow things that I couldn't get a good look at."
Chaser makes a face. "Crap," she growls.
Yi nods solemnly at the adren, barring any further comment and putting those notes away. The others also give a couple of comments on similar lines to Chaser's and then the CantoGnawer presses on. "We'll have to get some good looks then, when we go there. Maybe Joey and his pack can help out, since we all don't have wings..." she trails there, peering upward at the Uktena with a brow raised before looking back down to earth.
After a few more spare announcements and comments, the ragabash finally come to talking about cub statuses. Yi first looks towards Corey. "So, if you could tell us how you're doing, Corey? Spotlight is on you."
Quick's black fur shrouds him as he paces through the shadows of the surroundings woods, as he turns nose up at the artifical food and ducks out for a mouse snack.
Corey sighs, in the hotseat again. Taking a deep breath, he begins, "Let's see, I was cubnapped on July ninth or so, and, Gaia willing, will no longer be a cub within two months. I've been under the tutelage of Roger, Daisy and John for general Garou and Walker things, Bernie of the Gnawers for Ragabash stuff, and believe it or not the other Walker cubs, them mostly for what /not/ to do." He pauses here, thoughtfully. "Speaking of which, Dizzy, the other nomoon cub who apparently couldn't make it tonight, is much the same story. We showed up about the same time, and I think we'll be Riting together. Moving on, the only need I can perceive in my training is I lack fighting experience, and if I'm missing anything else it's because I don't know I'm missing it."
Corey adds upon a moment's reflection, "And Umbra stuff. Haven't seen much of the Umbra."
Chaser watches the boy quietly. "I'm sure y'could get some a those Walker types to spar with ya."
"I think you guys are doin' all right, raggie-wise, but, y'know, you need t' get some practice with stuff. Like, see if you c'n get John to let you out t' do more of the stuff that's around, maybe?" Bernie suggests, finally finishing off her beer.
Yi taps the side of her jaw, nodding a couple of times. "I've managed to get Dizzy a few times for sparring, but if you'd like, I can drop by the safehouse some more too. Umbra wise... I think you'll have to check with your elders for that before we take you anywhere." She winces slightly remembering the few times she's taken cubs in the Umbra.
Corey wrinkles his nose slightly. "Don't get me wrong, Chaser-rhya. John and Roger have been drilling us on the basics, but lately they seem preoccupied with other matters. As for your suggestion, Bernie, last time I asked that John told us cubs our job was to learn. I'm not eager to ask again, given the fashion he told us." To Yi, he nods and says, "Thank you for the offer."
"So how th' fuck are you s'posta learn without =doing= anya th' shit? Pure theory an' hope you don't get killed once you're on your own?" Bernie arches a brow, then shrugs. "If it's your job to learn, you just hafta go out an' do said job, right? All you'll learn otherwise is 'avoid John's fists', which okay, good lesson, but not the be-all and end-all."
Corey spreads his hands in the universal 'got me' gesture. "All I can say is take up his teaching methods with him, and if you can suggest something to be done, go for it. I wouldn't mind having something to do before I get tossed into my Rite."
Tilting her head once at Bernie in question, Yi looks back towards Corey. "I'll ask him about it." The other Gnawer newmoons add to some of the grumble, but pretty much find little to comment on for now.
Bernie shakes her head. "Nuh-uh. =You= take it up with him. It's your training to reroute. But if I thinka anythin' in particular, yeah, I'll suggest it. Try t' get him t' let you in on th' sewer shit, maybe. It's dangerous, I already got messed up down there, but hell, he'll prolly =be= there t' keep an eye on you anyway, an' it'd be good experience, an' you said you might be helpful for th' mapping. 's a thought anyhow." She glances to Yi, "...anythin' else I'm forgettin'? Oh! Gifts an' Rites an' shit, yeah?"
Chaser coughs quietly, ducking her head and wincing. She doesn't speak, though, just wipes at her mouth with the back of a hand, and then returns her attention to the others.
Yi gives Bernie a smile. "Improving your quality of training is your job, Corey. I'm not saying that you should insult John's methods or anything, but sticking up for your own benefit like your name suggests, as a nail, is what he may notice more. But... we'll have to get to that later hey?" She looks around, and taps the side of her cheek again before clicking onto the other cubs.
Next comes Dove, as Yi nods to him and motions for him to poke up and speak up. He stands up to announce how he is doing for his training. Dove clears his throat. "I missed... a lot of stuff. Been here about a year, now, but I've been learning how to fight and sneak and stuff. Right now I'm learning about the city, then Andrea says I need more no-moon specific stuff. So.. that's what I need. She thinks I'm close to going on my Rite.. but I dunno."
Yi nods again, commenting quietly, "Alicia's asked me to help you with that stuff. If the other newmoons here also contributed, that would be good too." A quick glance around to see what the others have to say.
Chaser nods. "I don't mind teachin' people. Cubs included." She glances around to them, catching Yi's eye.
The next few bits of discussion involve discussion of cubs, the newmoon elders that aren't there, and tribal representatives. There's a little bit of discussion about auspice leader, which eventually is settled with very vague boundaries of who is doing what. It's not too big a deal as the other things like scouting missions and exchanging of general knowledge. The various gathered go about telling what they know, and offers are made to teach others regarding the gifts they know, rites and otherwise all purpose training. The cubs are not for lack of teachers as long as preparations and advanced notice to tribal elders are made, and soon enough the gathering draws to a close. Yi notes to the others that the food left is free for the taking, and those nice steaks thawing quietly in the dark will be sacrificed to the forest gods and spirits. That said, most of the gathered start to disperse back to the shadows as ragabash are wont to do.
