The smell of coffee -- reasonably strong coffee -- fills the room. Bernie is seated at the kitchen table, alone, with a cup of well-adulterated java sitting on the tabletop in front of her, which she seems to be staring into. Not unhappily, exactly; more thoughtfully. There's a half-eaten plate of scrambled eggs and toast in front of her too.
There's a soft knocking upon the back door, then a head peeking inside. "Hey.. anyone home?"
Bernie glances up to the door, with maybe a slight wince... or is she just startled? She grins at the sight of Alicia, though, and greets her cheerfully, "Hey! How y'doin'? Want some eggs? Made a li'l too much, there's still some in th' pan 'f ya like." There's an empty juice glass by her plate, too. Someone's having a Complete Breakfast!
Alicia blinks a bit and shakes her head. "Oh, no thanks, already ate. Ya'know... rabbit." She plays with the ends of her hair, which has gone past her shoulders now. "I was just stopping by to see how you were doing, ya'know..apologize.. /again/ for the on going soap opera of all my cubbies that seems to circulate everytime I open up my mouth."
"Mmm," Bernie remarks, sounding less than entirely enthused, "rabbit." She grins, though, and shrugs, "...well, maybe I'll manage t' polish 'em all off, or Cam'll come down an' help, or somethin'. I'm doin' a'ight. Pretty good, act'ly. How 'bout you? Seein' as y' didn't answer that... an' 's a'ight. Everything's okay, yeah?"
Alicia nods her head with a light sigh. "Yah, but for how long ya'know? I'm just on pins and needles, and I'm easily getting worked up over the most tiniest of things." Rubbing her neck, she stays by the door still, not moving any closer. "I guess I am just over anxious you know, to get my passage going."
Bernie nods back a bit, picks up her fork, and gives the eggs a Look before scooping up a bite of them. "Yeah, I know, it's stressful an' all. But right now, I'm like, stressin' isn't gonna help me any... I jus' gotta relax an' make sure I'm thinkin' an' learnin' an' doin' my best, y'know? An' th' rest'll take carea itself. That's what I figure, 'least."
Alicia dips her head in a nod. "Yah, I know. I guess its because I've been spending a lot of time in the feral, chasing down rabbits an stuff, an doing that during the full moon gets me worked up." She slips down at the table, next to her. "Its weird, living as a wolf you know, everything is so different."
"I haven't done it more'n a day or so at a time, way back," Bernie muses, and munches a few forkfuls of egg. "...prolly oughta put s'more time in, really. Mmm..." She sips her coffee thoughtfully.
Alicia nods her head. "I don't mind really, its just..that, living out in the bawn, you gotta, or else it gets real cold. An when I wake up as a wolf, first instincts is to well...chase down food."
Bernie laughs, "Hell, that's not your first instinct assa human? Not countin' 'roll over an' go back t' sleep,' that is..." She sets the fork down, and rubs her temples briefly before reclaiming the fork for another bite.
Alicia grins. "My first instinct as a human, is to run to the bathroom as fast as I can." Smiling, she leans back in the chair a bit, drawing a knee up to her chest.
Bernie giggles, and works on demolishing the eggs a bit faster. "'sfunny," she remarks, "tha's just 'bout never mine..." A gulp of coffee, to wash them down. "So whatcha up to t'day?"
Alicia rubs her neck and shrugs lightly of her shoulders. "Nothing, figured another day will go by I don't see any of my Elders, so, I can probably hang out at the Caern an see who pops by."
Bernie makes a bit of a face, and nods. "'s too bad there aren't morea 'em, your elders, I mean. Or thatcha di'n' turn out t' be a Gnawer, 'stead." She half-smiles, and drinks some more of her coffee. "There oughta be people you c'n pick stuff up from hangin' at the Caern though, yeah?"
Alicia nods her head. "Yah, but still, people are always bitching 'bout how its not right to learn from other tribes. Oooh..well..." She grins. "An I'd make a horrible Gnawer."
"Nahhhh," Bernie replies, "you'd be kickass." A slight pause, and she adds, teasingly, "...thassa compliment, by th' way. An' fuck people who tell ya where y'can an' can't learn... well, not -literally-, obviously... but if they give that big a shit 'bout it how come they're not sittin' there teachin' it t' you instead? Q.E.D."
Alicia shrugs her shoulders. "Tribes gotta learn from their own tribes, thats just..the house rules I guess for the big n' fuzzies." Smiling, she plays with her hair a bit, noticing the dark seaping back in.
Bernie shrugs a little, unconvinced. "Well, I guess 'f y' wanna do it that way, go 'head. But if I'm 'round here when Steven fin'ly gets 'round t' tellin' Cam th' resta th' Fianna hist'ry an' givin' him th' 'What it means to be a Fianna' speech her was talkin' 'bout, for 'zample, I'm damn well gonna listen 'til he notices me an' kicks me out." She polishes off the remainder of her eggs. "I woulda hadta waste like a montha th' time I've been here if I'd only let m'self learn shit from other Gnawers. I mean, sure, they're first choice, an' if I get conflictin' stories I'll be goin' with ours, but 'side from that..."
Alicia nods her head. "I know what you mean, I do the same thing, just saying that other people frown upon going out of their way to teach another's cub, an then, for some reason, they get all pissy an say its dishonorable or whateverrrrrr." She drawls the r's off a bit. "Well, whatever keeps me alive, thats all I care about."
The corner of Bernie's mouth quirks up a bit. "See," she teases, "I -toldja- you'd make a good Gnawer. Anyway, they don't hafta go outta their way... most people'll answer questions if they come up, y'know?" She shrugs, and drains her coffee, then sighs a little, looking at her empty dishes. "-I- gotta go get Tim t' kick my ass s'more. At th' least."
Alicia wrinkles her nose a bit. "That sucks.." Leaning back, she begins to hum for a moment, before her voice turns to words. "Don't look, don't look", the shadows breathe, whispering me away from you. "Don't wake at night to watch her sleep." You'll know that you will always lose. This trembling, adored, tousled mad bird girl...But everynight I burn, everynight I call your name." Pausing, she continues. "Everynight I burn, everynight I fall again."
Bernie furrows her brow a bit, and cocks her head, listening. "...'sat?" she asks, after a moment.
Alicia blinks her eyes and glances over. "Huh?"
"Th' song," Bernie elabourates, "what is it?"
Alicia wets her lips. "The Cure, song called Burn... from the movie, the Crow."
"'s pretty," the ragabash remarks, and stifles a bit of a yawn. "Mmph. 'scuse me." She stands, stacking her dishes up and taking them to the sink.
Alicia smiles and heads for the back door. "I'm going to go back out an work off this pent up energy of mine. I'll talk to you in a few hours?"
Bernie nods, "Mmmhmm. I'm gonna head back inta th' city, work on a few things, y'know? But prolly I'll be 'round later, yeah. So I'll see ya then." She flashes the coggie a grin, then gets a mischevious glint in her eye and -pounces-, catching the cub at the door in a hug. "Ha!" she exclaims triumphantly.
Alicia mmphs as she stumbles back a step, forced by the other's weight. "Ha, yer'self." She says, wrapping her up in a strong embrace, nestling her cheek gently upon the others. "Thanks, I really needed one of those."
Bernie grins, and squeezes her friend tight. "Well," she replies, "I got plenny, an' you c'n have, mmm... a thirda them. Yeah?"
Alicia smiles and doesn't let go, instead, reinforcing the hug tighter still. "I take as many as you can muster." She says with a giggle to the other's ear.
"Well, you c'n only havva thirda 'em," Bernie insists firmly, still grinning and hugging, "but hey, a thirda infinity ain't bad." She breaks the hugs after a while, and pulls back slightly, lifting up a strand of bi-coloured hair from the Gaian's head. "We might hafta redo this, huh?"
Alicia giggles and shakes her head. "Nope...I'm going to let it grow back out. I like my old hair better, but the streaks now is definitly cool." She states, then opens up the door. "Ok, so..see ya tonight?"
Bernie nods slightly, "That's th' plan, long as I c'n get back out here, yeah. Have a good run an' all!"
Alicia nods and slips out the door, waving once.
